Educators and Social Workers

The C-for-Chinese@JC project has developed early childhood education resources for educators and social workers to help promote Chinese language ability and socioemotional competence in Chinese-speaking and ethnic minority (EM) students.

These include Culturally Responsive Education Benchmarks (CREBM), Culturally Responsive Service, Kindergarten to Primary School Transition Support, Reading Scheme (School-based), and the Resource Corner for more early childhood education resources.

Network Schools

Develop culturally-responsive curriculum and on-site support for Network Schools

Culturally Responsive Education Benchmarks

Provide a framework for CRE for self-evaluation in catering to the learning needs of EM students

Culturally Responsive Service

Provide various community and family support services with CR elements for non-Chinese speaking EM families

Kindergarten to Primary School Transition Support

Highlight key aspects for teachers to prepare EM students for the primary school life

Reading Scheme (School-based)

Provide additional reading opportunities outside of class hours to enhance the Chinese literacy skills of EM students for smoother transition to primary school

Host various learning and early childhood education teaching resources for registered users

Early Childhood Education Opens up a New Career Path for Ethnic Minority Youths and Support the Learning of Non-Chinese Speaking Children

Farooq graduated with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (D(ECE)) (Supporting Learning and Teaching for Non-Chinese Speaking Children). It is a programme fully subsidised by C-for-Chinese@JC and organised by The Education University of Hong Kong.
