‘Capacity Building of Expert Teacher for Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Children's Learning’ Course
Since 2023, the C-for-Chinese@JC project has introduced this course specifically targeting experienced teachers from schools participating in the Kindergarten Education Scheme who have completed the basic course on supporting non-Chinese speaking (NCS) kindergarten students.
This course aims to provide professional development and training for experienced kindergarten teachers in leading a school team to plan, implement, and evaluate culturally responsive teaching and provide appropriate learning and teaching methods and support measures for NCS children.
The course will strengthen teachers’ knowledge and skills on culturally responsive teaching benchmarks, social integration, Chinese and social-emotional learning for the coordination of curriculum and teaching practices for NCS children.
It focuses on applying theories into practices, such as how knowledge is constructed, effective learning methods, rapport building, school-based curriculum adaptation, differentiated teaching, curriculum planning and delivery, the use of funds of knowledge in planning activities, and promoting the participation of young children and their parents in the learning process.
