Educators, Expert Teachers, and School Leaders
School Leader Workshop
Since 2022, the C-for-Chinese@JC project has introduced this workshop specifically targeting principals, vice principals, head teachers and other senior school leaders from schools participating in the Kindergarten Education Scheme.
It is an enhanced training programme designed for serving school leaders to strengthen their understanding of the traditional cultural practices of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, relevant government policies and regulations. It also enables participants to explore the roles, functions, responsibilities, challenges, coping strategies for promoting cultural integration, and provide learning support to non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students.
The workshop covers culturally sensitive leadership principles and methods, as well as the habits of mind needed to become effective school leaders. It focuses on clarifying the values, beliefs, and/or dispositions that school leaders should have when teaching children from different cultural backgrounds. It also encourages critical self-reflection on school leadership practices.
Discussions of culturally responsive benchmarks, social integration, Chinese and social-emotional learning in school settings are included in the workshop.
